Tango Workshop

Embellishment in improvisation – TRADEMARK YOUR MOVES

Do you ever get bored of your own dancing? How can you learn to improvise? Is it possible for followers to improvise in tango? Can you practice something that is supposed to be improvised?

Improvisation is much more than steps and combinations!

When we dance Tango, the leader is generally responsible for outlining a structure of movement, while the follower actively takes space, filling the structure and embellishing the movement. We improvise together. But sometimes the leader is so preoccupied with putting steps together, that they forget to leave space for their partner. And sometimes the follower is so preoccupied with following the structure of steps, that they forget to improvise. And very often we get stuck in a rut, repeating old habits, getting bored of ourself. That is what we aim to help you change

Tango workshop program: (details coming soon)

Our teachers – Judit & Lucas

“Teaching is more than imparting knowledge, it is inspiring change”

Our passion is Argentine Tango. Our aim is to make you experience the pleasure of dancing.
With more than 20 years of trajectory, we do our best that our students live the beauty of dancing day today, in all our classes.

Our (short) story

2014 was the year when Lucas and Judit met and had their first but definitely not last dance together in Buenos Aires.  By that year, he had 22 years of experience in tango and Judit had been dancing for 14 years. They were coming from two very different backgrounds – Lucas was born in Argentina and trained by the most renowned masters (most importantly Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Gustavo Naveira and Mariano Chicho Frúmboli) and Judit was born in Budapest and had a strong classical dance background. Yet they both had the same passion for tango and decided to work together to transmit the spirit and knowledge accumulated by the vibrant energy born between them.

After just a couple of months of working together, they already performed in various milongas and festivals in Buenos Aires (as El Yeite Tango Festival and the prestigious C.I.T.A). They spend the greatest part of the year in Budapest where they have regular courses and from there they have the possibility to travel on the weekends to different cities in Europe where they perform and teach.

The 10th Primavera Budapest Tango Marathon 2022 venue – Art Deco Grand Ballroom (built: 1928)

It is called the „Church of the Ironworkers”. The triumph of the Hungarian construction industry before the great economic crisis. The new pride of the ironworkers, which is still union-owned today, was built in 22 months. Until the last nail, everything was manufactured, constructed and assembled by Hungarian craftsmen. On the façade, there is still the emblem of the iron union and “the figure of the two workers shaking hands above the gate is not only captivating but solidly and stylishly reminiscent of who owns this house”. The ornate entrance is a fine example of domestic art deco.

City tour

Private city tour by bus

Budapest is one of Europe’s great cultural capitals.

Over the past few decades, Budapest has re-emerged as one of the continent’s iconic cities. Split by the Danube and many bridges connect the two parts. Meet your guide at your hotel and begin the program in Pest.

Drive along the elegant Andrássy Avenue, the “Champs-Élysées” of Budapest. Continue to Heroes’ Square, representing 1,000 years of Hungarian history. Going through the historical Jewish district admire the neology synagogue. Across the river, explore the more traditional Buda side of the city. Visit the Citadel on top of Gellert Hill and pulsate together with the city from the most iconic viewpoint. Arriving at the Castle District up on the hilltop, enjoy the panoramic view of the city from the Fishermen’s Bastion and Matthias Church (the coronation spot of several Hungarian monarchs). Returning to your hotel driving along the riverbank you can take pictures of the beautiful Hungarian Parliament.

Walking tour in the city centre – Follow the Spring & Romance, Best photo spots in Budapest & The Party Zone

Budapest always was a beautiful city but the real revival of the capital started after the political systemic change. Explore Budapest’s hidden gems by walking around the Jewish quarter with its triangle of the extraordinary synagogues and Andrássy Avenue.

From the Jewish quarter, we will walk to Andrássy Avenue, which is famous for its architecture and high fashion shops. Visit the most romantic spots in Budapest also the best photo opportunity places.

Walking tour in the Buda Castle

We will see the most popular sights and more of the Buda Castle area which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We tell you the story of the Matthias Church, the Fisherman’s Bastion next to it, the Royal Palace of Buda, the Hungarian White House and you will be able to admire the view of the Buda hills and the Pest side, too. Finally, there is a useful orientation at the beautifully renovated Castle Garden Bazaar.

At the end of the tour, you can enjoy your lunch in a chic, cosmopolitan, yet utterly local restaurant near the royal castle.

Budapest by boat at night

Budapest dazzles at night, so get a romantic new perspective on the Hungarian capital with this popular evening cruise. Glide down the Danube River past illuminated landmarks like the impressive Parliament Building, sparkling bridges, lively Pest promenade, and Buda Castle, illuminated Liberty statue atop the Gellért Hill and many more…Kick off the festive, one and a half-hour-long voyage in a panorama boat with a welcome drink of sparkling wine and live music and enjoy the 4-course gourmet Hungarian food.

Midnight wellness – relaxing in a natural Spa & Turkish bath

The Rudas is found a few steps in front of the rocks of Gellért Hill, near the Hungária, Attila and Juventus springs. These Turkish baths were built at the time of the Ottoman occupation in the 16th century, while the spa complex was added at the end of the 19th century. Eight columns support the cupola under which lies the octagonal Turkish pool. This still functions as the centre of the bath. The light shafts shining through the stained glasses of the cupola openings cause a colourful, vibrant effect inside the pool.

A night above the city

A 21st-century overhaul and modernisation have been kind, retaining the Ottoman atmosphere while adding a panoramic Jacuzzi and sunbathing terrace. The best experience is definitely the panorama pool. You can see the Danube and the inner city meanwhile you have a nice bath and enjoy a glass of champagne.

Lunch & piano music in a landmark bistro

Chic, sexy, cosmopolitan, yet utterly local –  opened on a street market, far away from the tourist crowds in the heart of a quiet Buda neighbourhood on the summer of 1914. It has been the café to hang out and the spot to be seen ever since. Artists, authors, movie stars, designers, ballerinas, the rich and famous shared the space with local crowds over coffee, drinks, food and the decadent magic lingering around its walls ever since.

Cakes & coffee at the “most beautiful coffee house in Europe”

Step inside the New York Café, and you may find yourself wondering if you’ve accidentally entered the Hungarian equivalent to the Sistine Chapel. Built in Italian Renaissance style, with sparkling chandeliers dangling from high ceilings adorned by spectacular frescoes, it’s one of the oldest cafes in Budapest, dating back 125 years.
It looks more like a lavish palace than a place to grab a slice of cake and a coffee. The menu is made up of Hungary’s most traditional desserts, including around 16 cakes, but of course, it’s not the cuisine that everyone comes here for – it’s the magnificent setting.

Spine training / Massage / Beauty treatments

Spine and fascia training

Have you ever wondered what exactly does “being grounded”, “pushing the floor” or “activating your centre/core” mean? We hear them quite often at tango classes, but are we really able to understand these concepts in relation to our own bodies AND to incorporate them into our movements?

Body awareness and the ability to use our bodies in an efficient way with minimum effort is key to developing a soft and relaxed, yet stable and energetic presence on the dancefloor that will ensure both long years of pain-free dancing and a high level of comfort on your personal tango journey. Spine and fascia training combines sensorimotor exercises to sharpen your senses and to discover effortless movements with special exercises to treat your fascia – the connective tissue that weaves through your entire body and whose condition is responsible for the vast majority of non-specific low back pain.

Let’s empower our senses and work together for a more balanced, free and elegant dance experience!

Our teacher – Kata

Kata, besides being an avid tango dancer, teacher and organiser herself, is a certified Pilates and PortDeBras instructor with qualifications in spine and fascia training and more than 25 years of experience in historical dancing. She is dedicated to helping her students experience the liberty of movement let it be on the dancefloor, on a mat or in their everyday lives and to share with them the vital knowledge of physical self-care for a long, active and healthy life full of dancing.

The price per hour depends on the number of participants. Please let us know if you are interested to take the class when you register.

Massage and Cosmetic Treatments ( hairdresser, manicure)

Beauty Treatments

Would you like to get home after your tango retreat not only feeling more revitalised but looking as well? Please, allow us to recommend our private dermatology clinic partner. The clinic offers a wide range of aesthetic procedures and treatments from cosmetics to plastic surgery. They have many prominent patients; most Hungarian celebrities are attending the clinic as well as Eva Mendez

Please let us know if you are interested and we are happy to provide you via email with further information.
